HealthForExpats answers you:

We have taken note of your comments and we would like to provide you with answers which, I hope, will enable you to better understand the role of each of us and therefore to provide you with the quality of service you can expect. International Santé is the website that compares the different insurance plans available on the market. We are neither the insurer nor the medical assistance platform. We present the main guarantees available and we invite you in various ways (emails, messages on the site, contact buttons) to contact us before subscribing to have more information on these formulas and the management rules of each insurer. We also give you the choice to subscribe online on the insurer's website. This is what you have chosen to do. You signed up directly on the ACS-AMI website without responding to our contact proposals. This is perfectly possible since the insurer also offers contact solutions to explain its own formulas to you. The insurer then manages the contract and the reimbursements of health expenses directly with its policyholders and offers an assistance solution available 24 hours a day because, as you say, you don't choose when you get sick. On our side, we remain available after your enrollment to help you in your relations with your insurer. We have an office in Toulouse and an office in French Polynesia, which allows us to be reachable almost 24 hours a day, from Monday 9:30 a.m. to Saturday 12:00 p.m. Regarding more precisely the management of your files, we have traced the history of your exchanges with the insurer and the assistance platform. On your ACS-AMI documents, you will find the contact details of the assistance service managed by Mutuaide 24 hours a day. It seems that you were able to contact them and since your medical care did not result in hospitalization, they explained to you the procedure to follow to obtain reimbursement from ACS-AMI. ACS-AMI's management services are not available 24 hours a day since they do not handle medical emergencies (they are handled by Mutuaide). You were able to contact ACS-AMI by email on May 4th. A first answer was given the same day, followed by some exchanges until May 5th. If you have a different chronology of events, please let us know so that we can better understand this matter. As far as the requirement to send reimbursement documents by mail is concerned, this is a procedure required by almost all French insurers. When email exchanges were developed, several of them agreed to reimburse on the basis of emails, but they quickly had to deal with fraudulent claims. They therefore had two possible choices: either to increase their rates significantly, to the detriment of the interests of honest policyholders, or to revert to managing claims on the basis of the presentation of originals. They chose to go back to a mail-in system. Most of us have chosen this profession after having travelled a lot and we are aware that these procedures are not necessarily easy to understand. That is why we insist, without being able to oblige the Internet users, on the necessity to have a contact with a consultant before subscribing. We remain at your disposal for any additional information to facilitate your relations with your insurer if necessary. Best regards. Raphaël Reiter

I haven't finished yet but I've answered the emails and explanations. I'll see when I'm back in France if my expenses are well reimbursed or not.
